STEM
“In the 21st century, scientific and technological innovations have become increasingly important as we face the benefits and challenges of both globalization and a knowledge-based economy. To succeed in this new information-based and highly technological society, students need to develop their capabilities in STEM to levels much beyond what was considered acceptable in the past.”
Friends of MES and Melrose Elementary have formed a partnership committed to investing in STEM education for our students to prepare them for jobs of the future.
Fine Arts
Studies funded by the Missouri Alliance for Arts Education showed positive correlations between arts in education programs and attendance, graduation rates, math and communication arts achievement.
Friends of MES aims to bring a variety of fine arts opportunities in various mediums to students of all grade levels.
Performing Arts
Friends of MES assists in providing participatory performing arts experiences such as talent and variety shows.
Our organization also advances the creation of the
Melrose Theater Kids Club which performs plays and other entertainment for the students of
Melrose Elementary.
